Mariam (Mariam Al Ferjani) goes out with her friends to a college party where she meets the fascinating Youssef and leaves with him. The rest of the evening turns into a tour de force for the young woman, who is forced to fight for her rights and her dignity. Inspired by a true story, the film paints an atmospheric picture of the post-revolution Tunisia, where old power structures are by no means overcome. Mariam’s fight for justice becomes a female self-assertion against the system. The debut fiction feature of the Tunisian director Kaouther Ben Hania had its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in 2017.
In cooperation with Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung.
